Over the next two weeks we will be studying the Environment in French.

You will learn how to do the following:

Exchange information and opinions about

 

  1. types of housing in your area

 

  1. transport issues in your area, traffic congestion, public transport

 

  1. reasons for pollution such as lack of recycling, too much packaging, overuse of energy

 

  1. issues concerning conservation such as recycling, wildlife, energy sources

 

  1. factors which might lead to an ideal environment

 

 

  1. simple ways to improve the environment

Summary:Many students find learning through games motivating and this site compiled by two French enthusiasts of Flash technology, whilst quite unusual in its appearance, nonetheless provides access to a range of animated activities. To help the study of the KS4 topic of ‘The local environment’ students should select the pages offered by Marc and look at ‘Calculez votre empreinte écologique’ in the ‘jeux’ section. Students would have fun and gain valuable reading comprehension practice from responding to questions about the eco-friendliness of their own homes. Another game tests students’ awareness of renewable energy forms with more detailed explanations given following each response. Further examples of puzzles on the greenhouse effect, climactic change, sustainable development and the state of the planet also feature here. Work on many of these puzzles could lead to subsequent written or oral production on the environmental theme. New games and animations are added as they are developed by the site’s producers.
