Speaking Mock Exam and Coursework

Uncategorized No Comments »

Reminder to all students that you should now be revising for your speaking exam which will be straight after Christmas. You must learn answers for one topic off by heart and answers for the other topics in the speaking booklet.

Coursework – great results so far but I am still waiting for Omar, Victoria, Mercedes, Sharifa, Matthew, Tom R and Zane to hand in their remaining pieces asap!

Activité Internet 1: Les animaux en danger
Download and save this worksheet and complete the activities by going to the following website

Spiris.net

Publisher:Spiris.net

Summary:Many students find learning through games motivating and this site compiled by two French enthusiasts of Flash technology, whilst quite unusual in its appearance, nonetheless provides access to a range of animated activities. To help the study of the KS4 topic of ‘The local environment’ students should select the pages offered by Marc and look at ‘Calculez votre empreinte écologique’ in the ‘jeux’ section. Students would have fun and gain valuable reading comprehension practice from responding to questions about the eco-friendliness of their own homes. Another game tests students’ awareness of renewable energy forms with more detailed explanations given following each response. Further examples of puzzles on the greenhouse effect, climactic change, sustainable development and the state of the planet also feature here. Work on many of these puzzles could lead to subsequent written or oral production on the environmental theme. New games and animations are added as they are developed by the site’s producers.

Parents of year 11 pupils

Dear Parents,

I am going to be publishing a weekly list of pupils who have handed in homework with comments on how well they have done it and suggestions for improvement. I will also publish the tasks that need to be done with useful links and ideas for extension and support. This website should be a useful tool for pupils as they can receive feedback from fellow pupils as well as the teacher and very often, pupils make common mistakes so they could all benefit from the generic advice given on the website.

Some pupils have bought revision guides and workbooks and there are more for sale. If your son/daughter have yet to buy these guides send them with £5.00 for both or £2.50 for one. The workbooks are tiered and will be suitable for the level of your child.

After the holidays I will also publish a list of pupils attending after-school sessions and what was covered so you can support them in their learning as well as keeping an eye on their attendance to these very beneficial sessions.

Feel free to post any questions or ideas on this website and I will keep updating you with relevant information.
